Subclass 491
Overview

Pathway to PR
After at least 3 years of regional work and residence, you can transition to Subclass 191 — Permanent Residence (Skilled Regional) under conditions set by the Department.

Step 1 Check Occupation Eligibility
Your nominated occupation must appear on Australia's skilled occupation lists taht apply to GSM visas. The main lists used are:

Step 2 Obtain a Positive Skills Assessment
A skills assessment is mandatory for GSM visas and must be completed before submitting your EOI.

Processing time: Most skills assessment take 8-12 weeks or longer, depending on the authority and completeness of documents.
Step 3 Meet the English Language Requirement
